Probably the smoothest project I have worked on to date. We had to make a logo animation for a company, real or fictitious. I went with the sinister Tyrell Corporation from the movie "Blade Runner". Had to make a lot of it in separate pieces, which meant more than one render, which, I’ve since learned, is a good idea anyway. First there was a render of the two Tyrell pyramid office buildings, which was then projected onto a spinning abstract shape. That second render was put into After Effects, in which the central animation was flanked by a couple of statues of David, which echoed into the distance to reinforce the company's main product, human replicants.

All that was needed then was some green interlace to go with the used technology feel of the movie in order to reflect how such an animation would possibly look like were it real. A brief clip from the film of flames shooting out of smokestacks and a still of an eyeball in the middle completed the scene. Took just a month to do and the results were pretty cool. The biggest bang for the time put into it.

From what our teacher told us, “flying” logo animations are a pretty popular for contract work. Some animation houses do them as well, but for freelance animators, this field can be quite profitable.
