During my time working as an illustrator in the design department for Humantech, I took part in a series of poster projects in which the overall theme was ergonomic safety in the workplace. Intended for an audience consisting of plant and office employees, we had to convey the importance of certain safety ideas visually without relying on too much text and at the same time making an attractive design. We also had to convey the importance of certain safety ideas visually without relying on too much text and at the same time making an attractive design.
Shown here are the posters I had the most to do with. The other designers made large contributions to both the Safety and Ergonomics series, while the Artistic series was mostly mine. Critique was a very important tool used as the posters developed. We would receive client feedback in which they described their needs for the image while the other designer’s input was important for getting a professional aesthetic that was both clear and pleasing to the eye.
These posters were made using Freehand for illustration from reference photos. They were then exported as Photoshop layered files and had various layer blending effects added. Finally, low resolution copies were made and burned to a CD to show the client for final approval.
